SIP has successfully increased its popularity among South Korean tourists thanks to a program it has carried out since late June to attract tourists from the Republic of Korea.

From July to August, SIP received over 16,000 South Korean visitors, a year-on-year increase of 11%. Notable surges were recorded at Suzhou Village, an outlet mall, where transactions involving departure tax refund jumped by 202% and spending up 17%. Key hotels also saw a 9.8% YoY increase in South Korean guests.

The program features tailored experiences such as taking photos in a cheongsam similar to a costume for Tang Wei in the film “Lust, Caution” and tasting the Wuliangye liquor and roast duck. Additional perks include the joint flight-hotel-attraction packages, coupons offered at airport and streamlined tax refunds.

Eight South Korean online content creators were invited to tour around SIP and their content about SIP attracted over 560,000 views overseas. Moreover, related topics on Weibo attracted 10 million views and SIP’s overseas channels recorded more than 250,000 views.
